Coshocton County Job and Family Services

Children Services

The Children Services Division of Job and Family Services investigates allegations of child abuse, neglect, and dependency. Within this division there are two units, Intake and Ongoing. Our goal is to bridge the gap between parents and their children.

Intake Unit Ongoing Unit

The Intake Unit is responsible for investigating the allegations, which includes making face-to-face contact with the alleged child victim(s), the caretaker(s), the perpetrator, and with any other children residing in the home. Within 30 days of the initial report, a family assessment is completed. At this point, a determination is made whether to close the case or transfer it to the Ongoing Unit for further monitoring.
Cases may remain open sixty days from the date of the initial report.

The Ongoing Unit develops a case plan which identifies areas of concern as well as the strengths of the family. The case plan is developed with the family and it is in effect for a six-month period of time. The case plan is reviewed with the family to determine if the problems have been resolved and the risk to the child has been reduced.

Adult Protective Services (APS)

APS is an array of services provided to adults who are at risk for abuse, neglect or exploitation.
An adult is a person of sixty years of age or older who is impaired by the normal aging process or who has a physical or mental disability which prevents him or her from providing for their own care or protection, and who resides in their own home.
JFS is the responsible agency for the receipt and investigation of all verbal or written allegations of abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult, and shall evaluate the need for adult protective services.

These three services are voluntary services that are provided by the Coshocton County Job and Family Services. Participation with the services is designed to alleviate potential risk for child and/or adult abuse, neglect, dependency, and exploitation to prevent the need for more intensive intervention or services.

that you don't trust with your child's life.

Does your partner:

  • Think it is funny to SCARE your child?
  • Stop you from bringing your child to his family events?
  • Make All the decisions for you and your child?
  • Tell you that you are a bad parent and that you shouldn't have your kids?
  • Pretend that WHEN HE HURTS YOUR CHILD that you are to BLAME or that it's NO BIG DEAL?
  • Make your child SCARED by using guns, knives or other weapons?
  • Tell you that your child is a nuisance?
