| Why do I need the National Career Readiness Certificate? | |||||||||
The Certificate is designed to complement other traditional credentials, such as a high school diploma, community college degree, or college degree. While these education credentials mark the fulfillment of your classroom learning experiences, The Certificate proves you have the workplace skills needed to succeed at your new job. The Certificate offers individuals, employers, and educators an easily understood and nationally valued credential certifying essential workplace skills. Employers across all businesses and industries are looking for a reliable way to measure foundational skills to ensure they are hiring the most qualified candidates. Traditional credentials, like a high school diploma or college degree, while important, are only a part of the picture and may not give a complete indicator of workers' job skills. This is why employers around the country are asking for the National Career Readiness Certificate when hiring and promoting. Come prepared for your next job interview. Proudly display your "real world" skills by showing your National Career Readiness Certificate. |

JFS ABLE Offers Something For Job Seekers..... |
|||||||||
Coshocton County Job & Family Services is in a unique situation to help those clients who have not earned an educational credential. The JFS ABLE (Adult Basics & Literacy Education) program is one of just two programs in the great state of Ohio that is housed within the One Stop!
ABLE programs throughout the state will feel the added pressure of transferring from the Ohio Department of Education to the Board of Regents within the next year. The Board of Regents oversees the college system in the state of Ohio and it is still undetermined exactly how it might affect our local programming. Although, the success of our local program has grabbed the attention of state leaders and planners. Positive steps such as collaborating with the Coshocton Campus and the Career Center will provide a contingency opportunity if the need arises. The Coshocton County ABLE program has experienced a record year graduating over 60 students this program year! The graduation ceremony will take place at the Footlight Players Theater nestled in Beautiful Roscoe Village, Thursday, June 26th. |

The ABLE program has morphed into an opportunity to serve those who are seeking not only a diploma but those who desire improved skills to obtain employment. The economy is certainly putting the squeeze on those clients who are lacking in basic skills. The ABLE program can develop those basic skills to improve student employability. We also have an opportunity to take the workplace education component to another level with the WorkKeys assessment. The Workforce Unit is pursuing opportunities to improve level attainment through a WorkKeys based curriculum called KeyTrain. The KeyTrain program is a computer based curriculum that allows instructors the ability to input assessment scores into the computer and the KeyTrain program will prescribe a series of lessons and quizzes to optimize level attainment for students.
