Scholarship programs - Opportunities exist for those who wish to upgrade their skills in an approved vocational or technical training program. Students can complete up to a two-year training program (or the last two years of a bachelor's program) with a scholarship that pays tuition, book, and fee costs above what is covered by state and federal grants. Students can also qualify for an allowance to defray transportation and child care expenses based on need.

Youth Employment and Training Program - This program provides eligible youth, ages 16 to 21, the opportunity to receive hands-on training and work experience. The purpose of the program is to provide them with a positive model of the world of work and an opportunity to develop interests in various careers.

Outreach Project - This program is designed to provide awareness of child abuse, information on reducing teen pregnancy, teen chat sessions, access to GED preparation, and job training services.

Job Club Adults attend a two-week workshop to gain the skills necessary to obtain employment. Students work in small groups during active job search activities, while developing a network of support. There is also a two-week job shadow portion of the workshop in which the learner is able to experience
on-the-job training.

One Stop Service - Coshocton County Department of Job and Family Services is your link to
community-based services. Representatives of the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Veterans Employment Services, Experience Works, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Employment Services, and the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired provide services on-site.

Adult Basic and Literacy Education - Through the Department of Education, Workforce staff provide an opportunity for adults to upgrade their academic skills in our Resource Center. With the aid of our staff, computers, books, videos, small group instruction, and one-on-one tutoring, students can obtain literacy skills, study for the GED test, or prepare for college. Click Here to be directed to the ABLE page.

GED Preparation - Staff members will assist eligible students through comprehensive testing, one-on-one evaluation, and determine their readiness to pass the GED Test.
Availability to the Learning Center, one-on-one subject assistance, and access to the computer library has resulted in most of them taking the GED Test and
passing it on the first try.

Also Offered in our Workforce Development Unit is a Learning Center, or Resource Center. This room is full of technology, as well as various things to help you. This room is used for several different purposes. Mainly the Resource Center is used by clients to help obtain their G.E.D. Although that is the main use, it is not just limited to that. Don't have computer with access to the internet? The Resource Center does! Not just one computer ... but TWELVE computers! Post résumés, search for jobs, and contact possible job leads through e-mail. We also have special needs computer systems. If your vision or hearing isn't the greatest, we can help you out.

So stop by the Learning Center. It is located in the basement of our building. It is open during regular office hours, as well as special hours during the summer time. Come see Ed Hartstine or Jandi Bigrigg for assistance, or call the Resource Center directly at (740)-295-7411.
