Job Title: Material Handler/Shipping Receiving FLSA Status: Hourly Nonexempt
Department: Warehouse Reports to: Receiving & Shipping Supervisor
Position Summary: Primarily responsible for handling materials within a warehouse facility. Handling activities can include unloading, palletizing, product put-away, product retrieval, picking, labeling, staging and loading. Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts (stand up & sit-down), hoists, pickers, turret trucks and other handling equipment to move materials.
General Purpose: To assist in a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, selecting and shipping general or specialized materials. Able to work both independently and in a team environment. Practice safety awareness. Process documented instructions with a high degree of accuracy. Route materials to correct locations or storage areas. Order processing must be completed in a timely manner to maintain all customer expectations.
Position responsibilities:
- Loads and unloads trailers
- Verifies materials and counts
- Builds orders via a pick process and labels cases
- Pick, pack and merge orders
- Verifies accuracy of pick and put-away locations
- Assemble and process documents and check for accuracy
- Route materials to correct locations or storage areas
- Operate warehouse forklifts and other multi-purpose vehicles and perform routine operator maintenance
- Perform all work in a safe manner following all safety procedures and requirements
- Work closely with the Safety Committee to maintain an accident and injury free facility
- Keep work area(s) clean and organized
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential skills and experience:
- Able to operate mechanized material handling equipment including utility vehicles, standard fork lifts, turret trucks and other related equipment
- Able to accurately complete appropriate documentation relating to stock location, quantity and correct carton label.
- Ability to receive material via blind receivers with accuracy
- Ability to use computers to determine stock locations
- Skilled in stocking, moving and arranging items on pallets. Must consider height, weight, and special handling requirements by customer.
- Skilled in warehouse use of strapping, banding, stretch wrap and related equipment
- Speak, read and write English fluently
- Ability to keep accurate written records
- Ability to follow both written and verbal directions
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- At least two years of warehouse material handling experience preferred

- Ability to report to worksite at schedule times
- Ability to work overtime with seasonally adjustments
- Ability to drive box truck to transport goods
Nonessential skills and experience:
- High school diploma or GED
