Job description

Position Summary:
Interprets historical information to our ticketed guests and demonstrates 1800s crafts in our Living History Buildings through non-guided tour situations.
Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Check the daily schedule, and daily tour instructions, and communicate with the Education manager.
2. Presents an accurate historical account to ticketed guests.
3. Maintains equipment and costumes essential to the performance of one’s duties and reports a need for repairs.
4. Maintains safety of ticketed guests and self.
5. Treat guests courteously and answer questions related to the presentation/demonstration, or contents of the Living History Buildings.
6. Maintains security of the building and contents throughout the day; receives keys in the morning and returns keys to the Visitor Center at the close of the day.
7. Honors scheduling commitments unless a change request is approved.
8. Participates in annual orientation and in-service as scheduled.
9. Performs internal/external housekeeping duties as needed.
10. Maintains warm, hospitable guest relations always.
11. Produces day-end reports as required.
12. Reports maintenance issues to the Education manager. This includes missing or broken antique items.
13. Follows instructions to produce craft items, such as weaving, brooms, iron items, etc. when not involved in historic interpretations.

1. Up to and including a high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. The incumbent needs to possess good communication skills and the ability to learn and retain a great deal of information.
3. Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
4. May require the incumbent to spend a great deal of time outside in various weather conditions.
5. Frequent walking, bending, and stooping.
6. Frequent variable shift work, including weekends and evenings.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $10.45 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 32 per week

Day shift
Monday to Friday
Weekends as needed
Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)
